Baronesa de Vilar 20 Year Old Tawny NV

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.
Portugal’s storied Van Zeller family has been making top-quality Port since 1715, with 15 consecutive generations passing on their knowledge and traditions. The Baroness of Vilar was the maternal grandmother of Alvaro Van Zeller (the current generation’s winemaker), and he crafted this 20-Year-Old Tawny Port to capture the essence of her elegance and strength.
Alvaro is one of the most highly regarded winemakers in Portugal, and is a former Head of the Port Wine Institute (which means that he had to approve the category for all Port wines released to the market!). To make this deliciously complex 20-Year-Old Tawny, Alvaro personally selected fine Ports that had been aged an average of 20 years in oak casks, then artfully blended and bottled the final wine. This style of Port is adored by fans for its golden-brown (‘tawny’) color, dried fruit notes, and nutty flavors (thanks to gradual oxidation and evaporation in the wooden casks).
You’ll taste all of that here – in full force. Baronesa de Vilar displays intense aromas of candied citrus peel and toasted nuts, with notes of dried fruit and salted caramel on the palate. You’ll also enjoy a soft, mellow texture and the great complexity that only slow maturation can bring. This delightful Tawny is ready to drink now. It’s a wonderful way to finish a meal, and we recommend serving it slightly chilled (especially in warmer weather).
Alvaro made very few cases of this fine 20-Year-Old Tawny – order now to ensure your share.
