Beyond the Label

We pride ourselves on securing top-quality, great-value wines from Bordeaux’s lesser-known family estates. And this exciting new discovery has everything going for it ...

The Expertise
Château Rocher Gardat has been owned by the Moze-Berthon family since 1820. Today, the estate is managed by Patrick Moze-Berthon, with help from his son and seventh-generation winemaker Mickael. They’ve also brought on Hubert de Boüard – a top consultant and owner of famed Château Angélus – to help out in the cellar. Talk about winemaking expertise.

The Village
Château Rocher Gardat lies in the premium Saint-Emilion satellite village of Montagne. Only four towns near Saint-Emilion meet the strict quality standards necessary to append their name to wine labels. And of them, “Montagne is the most exciting. It produces wines that stand well against Saint-Emilion, at prices that are laughably lower” (Wine International magazine).

The Vintage
This classic Merlot-Cabernet Franc blend hails from an excellent year. As critic James Suckling says, “2016 is the third outstanding vintage in a row for Bordeaux ... producing dynamic and well-structured wines.” He was also impressed with this particular release ...

The Points
Suckling rated Château Rocher Gardat 91 points and wrote: “This has a modern nose with toasty oak, across some graphite and dark plums. The palate has juicy resolve with a sleek, fresh bed of succulent tannins.”

Guaranteed to impress your guests – especially when served alongside beef tenderloin, rack of lamb, or hearty vegetarian dishes. Secure your share today and prepare for the compliments to roll in.
