When our California expert, Clare, tasted this sumptuous California red, she was instantly reminded of the currant bun (a classic British dessert pastry, made with currants and baking spices). It was so delicious, she asked the winemaking team if she could have the lot for our customers—and they graciously agreed to save every last drop for you.

Clare isn’t the only one who thought it was delightful. Judges at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition were smitten too, and gave the inaugural vintage a double-gold medal. Currant Bun hails from Lodi, “one of the top wine regions in the country,” where winemakers “have quietly started producing some of the state’s best wines” (vinepair.com). Thanks to the warm 2020 vintage, Lodi’s vineyards thrived, producing grapes with ripe, concentrated flavors.
