A huge fan of Spain’s native Macabeo grape, Norrel farms old vines planted a dizzying 2,900 feet above sea level in the hot, dry climes of rugged Calatayud. There, the vines produce grapes with exceptional richness, vibrancy and flavor complexity—the perfect base for him to create a truly sensational pour.

After carefully hand harvesting the fruit, he combines it in the press with an equal portion of old-vine Garnacha Blanca, then barrel ferments the juice and lets it age on its lees for five long months. The resulting wine is intensely aromatic, floral and mineral driven, with ripe stone fruit and candied citrus peel flavors that play out across a long, saline-accented finish.
