At Ramón Roqueta’s acclaimed bodega in Catalunya, they passionately uphold the uniquely Spanish custom of long barrel aging and cellaring of their finest reds. Ramón himself is a big name in the region, and was recently hailed as 2016’s Best Winemaker of the Year by the Catalan Association of Sommeliers. His luxurious Las Barracas Gran Reserva is one of our most popular Spanish reds, and the 2012 vintage has been released at its delicious peak, with layers of mellow, mature flavors.
The Roqueta family cellar actually dates all the way back to 1199 (that isn’t a typo!), so there’s no shortage of tradition and expertise behind this venerable red. The family’s wines regularly score big medals and other critical acclaim in Spain and across Europe – which is why we’re so delighted to bring this exclusive directly to your table.
A blend of 60 percent Tempranillo (the great grape of Rioja) and 40 percent Cabernet Sauvignon from the family’s property in Catalunya, Las Barracas delivers classic aromas and flavors of dried red and black fruits, with layer after layer of vanilla, toasted coconut, tobacco leaf, and leather. It’s perfect with rich, rice-based dishes such as a paella with chorizo and chicken, or with grilled lamb.
Aged to perfection and ready to enjoy, Las Barracas is also an exceptional value. Order your share today.
