Saracosa Vermentino 2018

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

Tuscan star Sofia Barbanera is the talented winemaker behind our hugely popular, best-selling Saracosa Rosso di Toscana. Thrilled with its success, she decided to make an equally gorgeous white version.
Sofia decided this special bianco would be made with Vermentino, a zesty grape that thrives in the coastal vineyards of Tuscany. As top critic Antonio Galloni writes, “the most successful white wines of the Tuscan coast are undoubtedly those made with native grape Vermentino.” In Sofia’s skilled hands, it reaches its delicious peak … and went on to win a prestigious gold medal at the 2020 Berliner Wein Trophy show.
The renowned Barbanera family have made highly acclaimed wines at their Tuscan estate since 1938. However, their grape-growing history extends back much further, and it is this tradition that Sofia honors with Saracosa. The wine’s named for the Saracosa hill, a site of ancient sun worship – and, the spot where Sofia’s female ancestors tended the family’s Vermentino vines.
Here’s Sofia on what to expect in the glass:
“Saracosa Vermentino is a mid straw color with peach, lemon peel and savory herb characters on the nose and palate. It displays the classic hint of sea air and fine mineral backbone of this ancient variety grown in coastal vineyards and is delicious served as an aperitif and with grilled fresh fish and light salads.”
Given the popularity of anything with the word “Saracosa” on it, we expect this acclaimed release to sell quickly. Hurry for your share.
