Beyond the Label

Northern Italy’s Piedmont is home to some of the country’s most elegant reds. And your delicious taste comes from one of the region’s historic families...

The Sartirano family has been a byword for premium Piedmont wine since 1871. Today, with fourth-generation Paolo Sartirano at the helm, the family has a more devoted following than ever. Luckily for you, we’ve been good friends with the Satiranos for years, so we were able to secure an allotment of this lovely release (which is usually all grabbed up by the locals).

Sourced from the best hillside vineyards surrounding their family estate, Paolo’s rosso is made from only the ripest, most flavorful grapes: Nebbiolo (the variety responsible for Barolo and Barbaresco, Piedmont’s famous reds), Barbera, and more. It’s expressive and complex, with a deep garnet color and a juicy-ripe, red-fruit character, accented by touches of spice and velvety tannins. One sip, and you’ll understand why it won kudos from the London Wine Competition.

This is a perfect match for truffle-leek risotto, braised pork or a grilled pizza with Cippolini onions, wild mushrooms and bacon. Do order your share quickly to avoid missing out.
