Napa Cabernet is the most sought-after red in all of California wine country, and the fantastic 2017 vintage yielded some of the best examples in recent memory. Here’s one you’ve just got to try …
The Magpie is a velvety exclusive, crafted by talented winemaker Reed Renaudin, whose wines “shrewd consumers should be buying … by the case load,” says critic Robert Parker. It’s named for a bird with an eye for shiny, valuable objects – not unlike Reed. He knows just where to find top-notch fruit, and he’s really outdone himself this time.
Reed swooped into a single, mountainside vineyard in Napa’s premium Atlas Peak subregion. Here, high altitudes, bright sunshine, and rocky, volcanic soils produce fresh, concentrated, thick-skinned grapes. The region is so remote and rugged that all vineyard work – from tending to harvesting – must be done by hand, which means the fruit receives the utmost attention and care from vine to bottle. You’ll taste the quality in the glass.
This elegant Cabernet shows all the ripeness of the 2017 vintage. Notes of fresh black fruit greet the nose, underpinned by sandalwood, violets, and subtle bell pepper. The palate is well-balanced and complex, with layers of juicy black currant, wild berries, and hints of spicy oak leading to the long, smooth finish. A perfect partner for steak, burgers, or hearty pasta dishes.
Our savvy Cab fans (or should we call them magpies?) will scoop this up fast. Order your share today to avoid missing out.
