Beyond the Label

Opi Sadler is a true Argentine legend. His peers call him ‘The Magician’ for his winemaking prowess, and his hugely popular wines have made him our No. 1 winemaker from anywhere. This time around, he’s sent us a very special red, crafted by his talented ‘sorcerer’s apprentices.’

Opi issued a challenge to his winemaking team: “I asked them to make the most richly flavored, darkest wine they could,” he told us. And sure enough, they worked their magic in fabulous style ...

The winemakers selected the best Malbec and Syrah grapes from the estate vineyards. Back in the winery, they dried the grapes on straw mats for several weeks after harvest. This process is called apasamiento (or appassimento in Italy, where it’s used in opulent Amarone) and allows each grape to shrivel until becoming a raisined knot of intensely concentrated flavor.

Upon tasting the resulting wine, Opi raved, “They exceeded my wildest expectations!” You’re in for a truly luscious Malbec-Syrah, packed with ripe plum, black cherry, black currant, and spice flavors. For best results, decant this sumptuous treat an hour prior to serving to really unleash its complexity. Fantastic on its own and equally delicious with roasted meats, hearty pastas, and more.

The Magician was so impressed with his apprentices that he named this red The Prestige. Order now to taste it before our stocks do a vanishing act.
