Beyond the Label

2015 was an absolutely outstanding vintage for Bordeaux – and as critics from across the globe reach for new superlatives to describe it (“lots of ‘wow’ factor,” James Suckling; “wonderfully sensual, exotic wines,” Vinous.com; “The best Bordeaux vintage since 2010,” Wine Enthusiast), collectors and fans have been snapping up all the best values.

Lucky for you, we’re always ahead of the game in Bordeaux, thanks to the unrivaled contact list of our expert, Jean-Marc Sauboua.

His latest gorgeous discovery hails from close friends the Joannon family and their historic Château Roquegrave, nestled in the premium Médoc district. It’s a fine Cru Bourgeois boasting four gold medals – one from France’s prestigious Concours des Vins in Lyon and three from top international shows. It’s a classic blend of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (45%) and Petit Verdot (5%) that offers up layers of ripe black fruit and subtle licorice-spice notes.

Forget the international fanfare though; we guarantee it’s also going to be a winner on your dinner table. Serve when you’re ready to impress someone, alongside a beef or lamb roast or a sumptuous stew.
