The Waxed Bat Reserve is a full-bodied red with ripe blackberry and plum aromas, framed by elegant notes of smoke and vanilla. The palate offers rich black-fruit flavors, soft tannins and a long, layered, well-integrated finish that recalls vanilla and toasted baking spices.

Argentine legend Opi Sadler is beloved by customers and critics alike for his rich reds. His sumptuous Waxed Bat Reserve is even richer, darker and more intense than the original. It also has dozens of illustrious accolades to its name—including a 93-point gold medal from Gilbert & Gaillard for this 2019 release.

Opi and his team hand harvested the ripest Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec from his favorite Mendoza vineyards and, after assembling the perfect blend (70% Cabernet, 30% Malbec), he gave the concentrated juice a 12-month slumber in the finest oak barrels. Over to G&G judges for what to expect in the glass:

“Smoky licorice on the nose with notes of forest floor, jammy cherries and bay. Crisp flavors on the palate are coupled with delicate oak influence. Restrained power, polished tannins and a sappy finish.” Our two cents: its rich black fruit and toasty vanilla notes make it perfect for barbecued or roasted meats.
