Selección Especial Numerada 48 Rioja Reserva 2013
A barrel-aged Rioja Reserva with several years of age will set you back at least $25. And that price climbs if it hails from a top estate. But with strong connections, you can chance upon marvelous values. Just don’t wait too long …
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

Wine Details

Flavor Profile

Wine Flavor Profile
This “friends-only” Reserva is a medium-bodied red with aromas of ripe cherry and strawberry, plus hints of spice, caramel, and coffee. It's expressive and well structured, with flavors that echo the nose, velvety tannins, and a lingering, complex finish.
Wine Food Pairings
Beef, pork, firm cheeses, red-sauced pastas, vegetarian meals.
Beyond the Label

When a historic Rioja bodega (established over 100 years ago) needed to quickly make space in their cellar, they called us with a fantastic offer: We’d take their prized 2013 Reserva at a very friendly discount, as long as we kept their name a secret to protect their normally much higher, premium prices. After just one taste of the perfectly mature red, it was an easy call to make.

In the bottle, the juicy, red-fruited Tempranillo flavor has melded beautifully with sumptuous vanilla-caramel notes, imparted by a luxurious 30 months in fine American oak barrels. It’s drinking beautifully right now, but will cellar well if you want to tuck a bottle or two away for future enjoyment.

Serving tip: It’s natural (and a normal part of the aging process) for older reds to “throw” sediment as you pour. While totally harmless, these bits aren’t always a welcome texture in your glass, so we recommend slowly decanting to separate the delicious liquid from the sediment before enjoying. Cheers!
