Schocken Hill 2016

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

In 1895, Samuele Sebastiani emigrated from Italy to California with the dream of making wine. He spent the next decade hauling paving stones from the Schocken Hill quarry in Sonoma with his cart and four horses. Finally, he saved enough to craft his first batch of wine – selling bottles out of that same cart – and the Sebastiani winemaking legacy was born.
Today, the Sebastiani family’s fourth generation has taken the reins, and they’ve crafted this opulent red in honor of Samuele’s dedication. No longer a bustling quarry, Schocken Hill is now the site of the family homestead – and an excellent spot for grape growing. Its gently sloping hills are blanketed in diverse, nutrient-rich soil, abundant sunshine, and cool breezes. These conditions were near-perfect during the stellar 2016 vintage, resulting in beautifully ripe, intensely flavored grapes.
Inky-dark Petite Sirah makes up most of the blend, supported by berry-rich Zinfandel, silky Merlot, deep Mourvèdre, plus splashes of Syrah and Tempranillo. Light oak aging completes the recipe and imparts subtle mocha notes to the wine’s vibrant, dark-fruit flavors. Full-bodied and smooth, Schocken Hill makes a delicious match for juicy burgers, vegetarian casseroles, or other full-flavored dishes.
Order your share of this luscious red today and taste why the Sebastiani family remain a renowned force in Sonoma wine.
