We’re thrilled to present our first wine from Moldova (and the 2020 Gran Prix winner for Best Winery, Radacini). Crafted from gently pressed Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, Albastrele is a gorgeous white wine with passion fruit and sweet spice notes.

Albastrele is a medium-bodied white wine with aromas of passionfruit, ripe peach and apricot, plus hints of honeysuckle. The palate is rich and rounded, with delicate citrus and sweet, spicy notes.

Enter, this lovely little number from Moldova. (Yep, you read that right.) Our first-ever Moldovan wine is a real doozy – a still “blanc de noirs,” a white made from all red grapes. In this case, we’re talking the King of the Reds, Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker Marian Haraba is a master of the style, with the awards tally to prove it. She pressed the grapes gently, swiftly separating the clear juice from the thick, color-rich skins. Boasting a satisfying weight and roundness (similar to Viognier), Albastrele also delivers lovely freshness. It’s this kind of deft winemaking that’s earned Marian’s winery, Radacini, the 2020 Grand Prix for Best Winery in Moldova.
