Beyond the Label

Fans of characterful Italian reds won’t want to miss this. Antionio Federici Rosso is a rich, powerful red brimming with luscious Morello cherry and ripe blackberry flavors, with layers of warming oak spice.

It’s the pride-and-joy release of Cantine Federici––led today by third-generation winemaker Damiano Federici––one of the most respected producers in Italy’s Roma region. Their small estate in the hills outside Roma consistently garners international acclaim for its luscious reds, enchanting whites and frothy bubbles.

Their passion? Cesanese––a grape grown in the region since at least 800 BC that’s “poised to become one of the hottest rediscovered red grapes in central Italy,” says Wine Enthusiast.

Antonio Federici Rosso combines the grape with Montepulciano grown in the very hills that once supplied stone for the Colosseum. A portion of grapes are dried before fermentation, concentrating flavors. And when all is said and done, the wine is aged for three years to enhance its smoothness, depth and complexity.

Look forward to bold cherry richness, velvety blackberry fruit and a long, spicy finish.

Act quickly for your share of this Roman sensation, then try it with rigatoni all’amatriciana and other hearty pasta dishes.
