Flavor Profile
With its whimsical label, intense aromatics and super-ripe fruit character, Bees Knees Chenin Blanc Viognier truly is “the bee’s knees.” It’s just the latest top bottle from the Gabb family—whose small, quality-driven operation was one of the first to put South Africa on the fine wine map.
It all started in 1996, when the Gabbs purchased their Journey’s End estate and began replanting its vineyards. Eight years later, their first wine was born and became the first ever to earn a John Platter's Wine Guide five star award as a new release.
Since then, the awards have only continued to stack up. “With quality remarkably high and consistent, I was particularly struck by Journey’s End,” remarked Jancis Robinson, Master of Wine. Other critics chimed in with similar plaudits, and prizes from the International Wine Challenge and the Decanter World Wine Awards flowed in. They were even named Ethical Company of the Year by The Drinks Business.
This wine will show you what all the fuss is about. You can expect aromas of ripe tangerine, apricot, pear and orange blossom followed by bright orchard fruit and zingy citrus flavors. It’s all lifted by notes of fresh-cut grass and subtle spice that knit everything together.
Easy to enjoy on its own, this is also tasty with equally aromatic foods (think Thai or Indian), savory white meats or strong-flavored cheeses. Secure your share today.
