When Sting was looking for a winemaker to head up his new Tuscan estate, he chose Riccardo Cotarella. Riccardo is considered Italy’s best winemaker, not just by the British rock star, but just about everyone—and even served as President of the International Union of Oenologists. We’re thrilled to bring you Carbonaia, his fine Super Tuscan.
When he’s not overseeing winemaking at Sting’s estate, Riccardo works as the head winemaker at Fattoria del Cerro. The estate that has won several major accolades for its wines—including six “Tre Bicchieri” awards from Gambero Rosso and the Best Italian Red Wine award from the Italian Sommelier Association.
Riccardo and his team carefully tend vines in the estate’s prime-sited Carbonaia vineyard, which is sustainably farmed. They hand harvested only the ripest Sangiovese and Merlot grapes, then took them back to Fattoria del Cerro’s state-of-the-art cellar. After six months of barrel aging, the wine was ready to enjoy.
