Beyond the Label

“I always try to respect the fruit.”

That’s the winemaking credo of Fernando Domingo. The Valencia native now calls Rioja—Spain’s premier wine region—home. And his minimalist philosophy (which has earned him top ratings from critic Robert Parker) shows through deliciously in his latest release.

Made with the region’s star grape Tempranillo, plus a dash of Mazuelo (aka Cariñena), and aged four months in barrel, this mouthwatering red has a juicy, red-fruited character laced with spicy vanilla notes. The term you’ll see on the label is tinto, but it’s also known as joven (or young). It’s exactly the kind of easy-drinking style Riojan locals prefer with everyday meals.

Fernando recommends you keep this fruit-forward crowd pleaser on hand as your own house red for when guests pop over. And we recommend you scoop up your share of it today, before all our cases are spoken for.
