Beyond the Label

Something special happened in Bordeaux (again!) in 2016.

On the heels of the equally fantastic 2015 vintage, 2016 was marked by another near-perfect growing season, which saw the region’s reds hit terrific levels of richness. Critics raved and, despite the high prices of the big-name wines, collectors reached for their wallets.

Back-to-back vintages of this quality don’t come along very often. And perhaps the most exciting thing about such banner years: the sun shines equally on all estates (not just the $1,000-a-bottle icons like Château Lafite).

The big winner from a small, family estate
At the 18th-century Château Le Pré du Moine, the Charrut family harvested gloriously ripe Merlot and Cabernet and went on to win a prestigious gold medal for their 2016.

This is classic Bordeaux, with all the ripeness of the 2016 vintage, plus a freshness that keeps you coming back for more. Decant an hour before serving – this will ‘open up’ the wine’s wild strawberry and cassis flavors – then enjoy with roasted red meats or hard cheeses. Delicious.

Small production means: limited cases imported. Order your share now.
