Chateau Pavie-Macquin 2010
This sought-after estate was just upgraded to Saint-Emilion's highest rank (just one of four châteaux to hold it). And their Merlot-rich 2010 has won huge acclaim, including 96 Wine Spectator Points for its "power, breadth and mouthwatering purity."
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

Wine Details

Beyond the Label

In 2012, this famed Saint-Emilion estate was upgraded to the region's highest classification of Premier Grand Cru Classé A. Only three other châteaux share the honor (Angélus, Ausone and Cheval Blanc), and their 2010s will cost you $320-$2,000 a bottle – making Pavie a relative bargain … especially in the exceptional 2010 vintage.

The château is named after Albert Macquin (1852-1911), who was a major force in transforming Saint-Emilion's vineyards (by protecting them from phylloxera, a deadly vineyard pest). The current owners are his grandchildren and, in the last decade, they've shown the heights that this estate's admirable terroir can reach – crafting consistently acclaimed wines, now utilizing sustainable and organic viticulture.

The 2010 Grand Vin, a classic blend of Merlot (85%), Cabernet Franc (14%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (1%), was widely acclaimed by critics – just read below:

"Packed, offering dense but clearly defined layers of blackberry coulis, plum paste and black currant pâte de fruit, intertwined with mouthwatering graphite and Lapsang souchong tea notes. The bramble- and spice-filled finish just won't quit. Despite displaying power and breadth, this features good cut and leaves a mouthwatering impression of purity. Best from 2018 through 2035." — Wine Spectator, 96 Points

The wine also earns 95 points from Robert Parker, James Suckling and top French guide Gilbert & Gaillard.
