Wine Details

Beyond the Label

France’s Loire Valley produces some of the world’s finest Sauvignon Blanc. We’re thrilled to present this new discovery from Domaine de l’Oselier and the under-the-radar Côteaux de Giennois.

Côteaux de Giennois lies in the Loire Valley’s central vineyards, next door to storied Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé, the valley’s most sought-after districts. The region produces top-quality wines that can stand up to their better-known neighbors at a much friendlier price.

Third-generation winemaker Florian Berthier crafted Domaine de l’Oselier with Sauvignon Blanc grown in vineyards his grandfather once cultivated. His grandfather, by the way, was a champion of the tiny Côteaux de Giennois appellation and served as president of the local winemaking association.

Thanks to the great 2018 vintage – “even the oldest winegrowers can scarcely remember a better Loire Valley harvest,” writes Loire Valley Wines – Florian had his pick of quality grapes. The resulting wine bursts with vibrant floral aromas, plus ripe, citrus- and white-fruit flavors. It will make a refreshing aperitif or a fine partner for goat cheese, summer salads, or seafood.

Florian’s family has known for generations that the Côteaux de Giennois makes dazzling Sauvignon Blanc, and now it’s your turn to discover this special region. Order today.
