Beyond the Label

Field of Stones Sauvignon Blanc is the crown jewel of Marlborough, crafted by Beth Forrest––daughter of Dr. John Forrest and now head winemaker at Forrest Wines. It’s crisp and dry, bursting with lively tropical and lime aromas, mirrored on the palate with a refreshing, mineral-driven finish. And you have special access––as long as you move quickly…

“From one of New Zealand’s finest producers, this is as good as Marlborough Sauvignon gets.” That’s famed wine critic Huon Hooke, praising the family’s classic Sauvignon Blanc release.

But Field of Stones is special cuvée from a prized, single-acre vineyard that’s home to the oldest vines and stoniest soils on the estate. Widely considered one of the best vineyards in Marlborough, this stony patch of land along the Wairau River lends a distinct mineral edge that’s reminiscent of fine Sancerre (the most famous Sauvignon Blanc from France’s Loire Valley).

In other words: This is serious Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. It’s intensely aromatic, with notes of pineapple and lime. The palate is bright and expressive, with flavors of guava, lemon-thyme and elderflower, and a vibrant acidity that frames the long finish. This wine is a fine match for chicken, shellfish or green salads.

Thirsty yet? Good, because the new release is tasting even better…you know what to do.
