Flavius Reserva Douro 2019

Flavor Profile
If you think Portugal only does Port, think again. Talented winemaker Miguel Ferreira has a passion for crafting whites, and he’s determined to prove just how impressive Portugal’s modern whites can be.
Miguel selected the grapes for his Flavius Reserva from Portugal’s premium Douro Valley, specifically the plain of Favaios. Once called ‘Flavius’ by the Romans (who were among the first to make wine here), this special subregion has a higher altitude than the rest of the valley, which helps the grapes retain freshness and produce truly elegant wines. No wonder big-name estates like Quinta do Vallado and Quinta do Crasto also source grapes from Favaios.
After deciding on the perfect blend (including Douro star Viosinho, fellow Portuguese natives Gouveio and Arinto, and international Moscatel – aka, Moscato), Miguel treated Flavius Reserva to six months’ aging in fine oak barrels. The final wine delivers creamy peach, apple, and citrus flavors, supported by toasty oak and baking spice notes from the barrel aging. One sip and you’ll understand why Gilbert & Gaillard judges awarded it 90 points and a gold medal.
While you can absolutely enjoy Flavius Reserva on its own, Miguel recommends pairing it with chicken (try spatchcock chicken with Portugal’s traditional peri-peri sauce) or vegetarian dishes. But before you can decide how to serve it, you have to secure your share. Order now to avoid missing out on this acclaimed Portuguese white.
