Rising star Alecia Boshoff learned winemaking from her grandfather, until their family had to sell their farm and vineyards. But she’s been working tirelessly to buy them back – and you can support her efforts with this sumptuous red.

Alecia crafted Koffieklip Kop with hand-picked Touriga Nacional and Touriga Barocca (great grapes of Port) from a special plot of miserly, 30-year-old vines in South Africa’s premium Swartland district. The grapes had once been used to make fortified wine, but they’d been abandoned in favor of more traditional varieties. Alecia knew these plants would produce extremely concentrated fruit, so she convinced the owners to sell her the grapes to make this delicious dry red.

After patient oak aging, Koffieklip Kop overflows with luscious black fruit (plum, blackberry, black cherry) and toasty mocha notes. It’s practically begging to be served with a juicy steak, roasted meats, or hearty stews.
