Beyond the Label

Hervé Sabardeil makes many of our best-selling French wines (his Cabalié range is legendary among our customers and critics worldwide). Ever the adventurer, he loves to explore southern France for prime-sited vineyards. And his latest discovery was too good to pass up...

Deep in the Vallée de l’Orb, Hervé found a magnificent plot of 30-year-old Malbec vines. Planted among galets roulés (heat-trapping stones that help boost flavors), these precious heirlooms yield a small amount of high-quality grapes. Hervé and his team carefully hand harvested the fruit, then took it back to the cellar so he could work his magic.

The final wine brims with ripe red and black fruit aromas, supported by licorice and wild herb notes. Elegant and supple, the palate has ample, black-fruit flavors plus firm tannins and a fine, persistent finish. A delicious match for steak, pork or hearty vegetarian dishes.

Judges at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Competition awarded this Malbec a coveted gold medal. It’ll be a winner with you and your guests, too. That is, if you secure your share before we run out.
