Beyond the Label

You have arrived.

Welcome to Château Cos d’Estournel, a storied 200-year-old estate located in the premium region of Saint-Estèphe, next door to Pauillac’s legendary Château Lafite. Cos—at once a gorgeous early 19th-century palatial property and an ultra-modern winery—is known for its sought-after, powerful wines that age beautifully. From this grand locale comes Les Pagodes de Cos, the estate’s second wine to their the eponymous Grand Vin. A bonafide charmer, it’s won a host of 90+ point awards from top critics around the world.

As Bordeaux fans know, 2009 was one of the region’s best vintages ever. Critic Robert Parker said “it may turn out to be the finest vintage I have tasted.” Parker also pointed out that Les Pagodes de Cos’s Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend “possesses this vintage’s classic characteristics of enormous power, massive fruit, and extraordinary freshness and precision.”

Named for the Asian-influenced architecture of the Château’s main structure—starring two large pagodas—Les Pagodes de Cos was declared “a beautiful and racy wine” by critic James Suckling. In awarding it 93 points, Suckling said, “Wow. Intense aromas of blackberry, toasted nuts and spices follow through to full body, with layers of fruit and wonderful length. Very, very impressive…this is quite the glassful.” Reviewer Jeb Dunnuck agreed, calling it “incredibly sexy,” awarding it 94 points and applauding its “smorgasbord of black raspberry and kirsch like fruits, spice box, dried flowers and licorice.”

Definitely a wine for food, Les Pagodes de Cos is sure to impress with beef, lamb or poultry. We recommend that you decant it about 30 minutes to one hour before serving to give the aromas and flavors time to open up.

Very limited cases—first come, first served.

Not available for sale in Texas.
