A peacock displays his feathers when it’s time to impress – and our California expert Clare Tooley thinks she may have found a wine world equivalent. Named after the colorful “eye” pattern on peacock feathers, Ocellus is a luscious, great-value Viognier.
Ocellus hails from prime-sited vineyards in premium Paso Robles, “one of California’s most dynamic regions” (Wine Spectator). Paso Robles is a top spot for Rhône varietals like Viognier, thanks to its hot days, cool nights, and long growing season. (No wonder Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s legendary Perrin family made a beeline for Paso when they wanted to make Rhône-style wines outside of France).
Thanks to the fantastic 2017 vintage, Ocellus bursts with pure fruit flavor. You’re in for layers of heady apricot, peach, and honeysuckle, which make this Viognier a lovely match for spicy Asian cuisine, seafood, pork, and more.
Better place a quick order before this feathered find flies out of our cellars (quantities are limited)!
