Flavor Profile
Onda Anima Vermentino di Gallura is a bright yet textural, mineral driven white from a northeastern stretch of Sardinia, and one of the Italian island’s most exciting new producers.
Founded in 2019 by four friends with a shared passion for wine, Saraja winery sits on the famous Costa Smeralda. However, the partners cultivate 120 or so acres of vines strung across four of the island’s best regions: Romangia, Ogliastra, Sulcis and Gallura, Sardinia’s only DOCG appellation, from which this wine is made.
The area is known for its wide, gentle hills, generous woods and a pastoral countryside punctuated by impressive granite rocks that seem to rise up from the ground like sculptures. Boasting a diversity of loam, sand, clay and quartz soils, it has become known as Vermentino heartland, and Saraja’s take on the grape is one of the most compelling we’ve tasted.
Fermented in stainless steel and aged six months on its lees, it’s focused, complex and elegant, with fresh lemon tones and stone fruit flavors anchored by intense minerality. Though rounded and lush, accents of myrtle and a saline quality lift everything, making the wine almost too easy to drink.
Order soon, chill well and pour generously.
