Beyond the Label

Spain’s wine scene is turning heads…and for very good reason. Where else can you find luxuriously barrel-aged, mature reds of quality¬ at an everyday price point? Silky and complex, Palacio del Conde Gran Selección is one of the best examples in our range.

The wine hails from Valencia, on Spain’s eastern coast––a region that stretches from the breezy Mediterranean shores to the sun-drenched, inland hills farther south. Here, winemaker Jorge Caus selects the finest Tempranillo grapes he can get his hands on (literally, to harvest), from 50-year-old vines. He then ages the wine for three years in oak barrels, which provides extra depth and complexity, as well as a soft edge of vanilla to the ripe red-fruit core.

Aromatic and smooth, it’ll pair beautifully with duck or lamb, strong cheeses or tapas like jamón serrano. Decanting one hour before serving will really open up those silky, spice-kissed flavors.

Reds like this beauty represent some of the best values in wine—for now. Get in before the rest of the world catches on.
