Pillastro 50th Anniversary Edition 2018
Angelo Maci’s regular Pillastro Primitivo wins praise galore from wine fans and critics alike, so we’re thrilled to introduce this special anniversary release. From Angelo’s best vineyard and patiently barrel aged, it’s his finest Pillastro yet.

Wine Details

Beyond the Label

Angelo Maci is a three-time Vinitaly Winemaker of the Year and the talent behind our best-selling Pillastro wines. His regular Pillastro Primitivo wins praise galore from wine fans and critics alike, so we’re thrilled to introduce this special anniversary release.

As always, Angelo worked his magic in southern Italy’s sunny Puglia region, which “is one of Italy’s prime new-wave wine sources, delivering terrific value for money” (The Times). Angelo selected grapes from his most prized Primitivo vineyard, which is planted with treasured old vines (some over 50 years of age). These gnarled heirlooms produce precious little fruit, but the grapes they do yield offer intensely concentrated flavor.

Back in the cellar, Angelo treated the wine to six months’ aging in fine French oak barrels. This imparted warming spice and vanilla notes to the Primitivo’s velvety plum and blackberry flavors. While you can absolutely savor this wine on its own, we recommend serving it with gourmet pasta dishes or hearty roasted meats.

This is Pillastro with the flavor dial turned way up, and Angelo’s legions of thirsty fans will be clamoring for their share. Act now to avoid missing out.
