Tenuta Fenice Bianco 2018

Tenuta Fenice Bianco 2018
Over 50 years after an earthquake devastated his family estate in Sicily, Dino Taschetta has returned to make this lovely white. A rare blend of native Grillo and Catarratto and lush Chardonnay, it bursts with perfumed floral and orchard-fruit notes.

Wine Details

Beyond the Label

Our Italy expert found Tenuta Fenice (‘house of the phoenix’) rising from the rubble of Sicily’s Poggioreale village. This exhilarating Sicilian white represents the rebirth of a historic family estate and some of the island’s oldest vines. And you have exclusive U.S. access.

In 1968, a devastating earthquake destroyed Poggioreale and forced winemakers to abandon their vines. Now, Dino Taschetta has returned to his family estate and reignited its legacy with this gorgeous white. All Dino needed was the right partner to help him share his masterpiece – that’s where we came in.

Made from Dino’s ancient, low-yielding vines, Tenuta Fenice marries native varieties Grillo (60%) and Catarratto (30%), along with international star Chardonnay (10%). Delivering a deeply satisfying intensity of flavor that only old vines can deliver, it overflows with vibrant jasmine aromas, ripe orchard-fruit notes, and a fine mineral character.

A refreshing aperitif and an equally delicious partner for creamy alfredo pastas, white pizza, or seafood dishes. However you plan to serve it, be sure to tell guests the amazing story as you pour.

Limited cases available. Stock up while you can, and enjoy with Dino’s thanks!
