Tenuta Fenice Nero d’Avola 2024
Our intrepid Italian wine expert stumbled on this old-vine Nero d’Avola when he entered the gates of Sicily’s “lost village of the vines.” (You will not believe how decadent it is for the price). Expect plush dark cherry and sweet spice notes.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

Beyond the Label

Dino Taschetta is the talented winemaker behind several of our best-selling Sicilian reds. His juicy Nero d’Avola wines never fail to impress, as you’ll taste with the much-loved Tenuta Fenice. It brims with dark fruits and a hint of anise––and you have exclusive U.S. access.

Nero d’Avola is Sicily’s signature red grape. It once thrived around the small hilltop village of Poggioreale. Growing up, Dino watched his grandfather tend to these ancient vines with care and pride. But in 1968, a devastating earthquake struck, forcing residents to flee and leaving vineyards abandoned. Years later, Dino was determined to revive his family’s legacy and restore the vines. He just needed the right partner to help him share his masterpiece––that’s where we came in. Our Italy expert found Tenuta Fenice (‘house of the phoenix’) rising from the ruins.

It's crafted from Dino’s ancient, low-yielding vines which deliver exceptional flavor concentration. Expect richly perfumed aromas, layer after layer of vibrant dark cherry and blackberry fruit, sweet spices, hints of licorice and a deeply satisfying intensity.

Nero d’Avola has skyrocketed in popularity, and the top bottles can command $30+ each. With Tenuta Fenice, you’re getting an amazing deal and helping rescue a special plot of ancient vines. Stock up while you can.
