Beyond the Label

Named after the magpie, a bird with an eye for shiny, valuable objects, this bottling is a limited-edition Sauvignon Blanc made by one of the most famed producers in California’s Napa Valley—we just can’t tell you who.

The winemaker is world renowned and has a very impressive resume that features top wineries across the state and abroad. Most of what he makes fetches over $100 a bottle, but in exchange for signing a non-disclosure agreement (or an NDA, as it’s commonly called) and promising to keep his name a secret, he generously shared the wine at a much friendlier price.

Here’s what we can tell you…

The vines behind the wine are over 50 years old, and sit at 650 feet above sea level on well-drained loamy soils perfectly suited to producing stunning Sauvignon Blanc. In the cellar, the aforementioned winemaker was keen to capture the natural vibrant and fresh flavors of the grape, fermenting the wine slowly in cold, stainless steel tanks to retain the fruit’s youthful character.

The resulting wine is wonderfully ripe and vibrant, with leap-from-the-glass aromas of bright citrus and peach, and flavors of pink grapefruit, zesty lime, juicy nectarine and more soaring across your palate.

Very limited cases available.
