Vesuvium Falanghina Beneventano 2018

Vesuvium Falanghina Beneventano 2018
The hills of Beneventano in Italy’s sunny south are home to Falanghina, an ancient wine grape (and currently one of the most fashionable among those in the know). Vesuvium is intensely aromatic, with zesty flavors that are delicious with seafood.

Wine Details

Beyond the Label

With its perfumed aromas and refreshing floral-mineral flavors, southern Italy’s native Falanghina “is one of those grapes that came out of nowhere to an almost sudden stardom,” says top wine writer Jon Bonné. Your exclusive taste comes from the Urciuolo brothers’ small estate (named for Mt. Vesuvius, the region’s iconic landmark).

The brothers make the most of the land’s unique, mineral-rich volcanic soils. Their hillside vineyards enjoy close proximity to the sea (with its moderating breezes), producing whites of real complexity, freshness, and depth. Quality has recently risen to new heights, with Italy’s famed Farnese Vini investing in the family estate. Winemaking is now overseen by acclaimed consultant Alberto Antonini, who formerly worked with top estates like Antinori.

Easy-drinking Falanghina is known for its round tropical flavors – and Vesuvium has a distinctive minerality on the finish that helps to balance its ripe fruit. It’s great with tomato-heavy Neopolitan dishes and equally delicious with seafood (try it with seared scallops or grilled calamari with fresh lemon juice).

A flavorful alternative to Pinot Grigio, this refreshing Falanghina offers terrific value. We recommend you order today, as we have very limited cases.
