South African White Wine

The most popular white wines are Chenin Blanc (historically known as Steen), Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Colombard and white blends. South Africa famously has more Chenin Blanc planted than the rest of the world combined, ranging from crisp, fresh expressions to lush, more concontrated releases.

Stellenbosch and Swartland are world-renowned for Chenin Blanc, while the cooler maritime climates of Constantia, Elgin and Walker Bay produce premier Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
