Wine Details

Beyond the Label

If you love rosé, you’ve got to try our latest catch from South Africa. It’s a mouthwatering marriage of red-fruited Pinotage (65%) and berry-rich Shiraz (35%), crafted by the talented Gerhard Swart.

Gerhard is at the helm of the Western Cape’s acclaimed Flagstone Winery, and has steered the ship toward a slew of international medals and trophies. For this refreshing rosé, Gerhard took full advantage of the exceptionally warm and dry 2019 vintage – the lowest-yielding in 14 years – and hand-selected super ripe, incredibly juicy fruit from a few of his favorite vineyard sites.

Pinotage – maker of the perfect pink.

South Africa’s flagship grape, Pinotage is a deliciously fruity cross of Cinsault and Pinot Noir – both of which make world-class rosé. Cinsault stars in the sophisticated, sought-after pinks of Provence, while Pinot Noir crafts the elegant rosé of Sancerre. The addition of Shiraz brings extra berry character and depth.

You’ll enjoy lovely aromas of crisp red apple, ripe peach, and white pepper. Succulent red berry flavors lead to a soft, creamy finish. As the name suggests, it’s a perfect match for lobster and other shellfish.

Take note: rosé always flies off our cellar shelves. Catch your share while you can.
