Beyond the Label

Buena Vista, founded in 1857, has the distinction of being California’s oldest premium winery – and our customers have exclusive access to some of their finest releases, like this velvety North Coast Merlot from excellent 2017.

Thanks to the latest stellar California vintage, the Buena Vista team had their pick of amazing-quality grapes. They hand-harvested the Merlot from premium vineyards across the North Coast – and gave the wine an especially long 16 months in fine oak barrels. With all the care and attention, it’s little wonder it won a gold medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

Named for a network of stone caves, dug by the estate’s colorful founder, Agoston Haraszthy de Mokesa (aka ‘The Count of Buena Vista’), Stone Caves Merlot delivers rich, plummy aromas and fresh, ripe cherry flavor, accented by delicate herb notes. A fantastic value given the quality of the vintage – but you’ll have to hurry to get yours. Made in very limited quantities.
