Beyond the Label

When our California expert, Clare, tasted this sumptuous Cabernet, she was instantly reminded of a currant bun (a classic British pastry, made with currants and various baking spices). In fact, it was so delicious that Clare asked Doug Roosevelt, the super-talented winemaker, if she could have the lot for our customers. Doug graciously agreed to save every last drop for you … and even named the wine Currant Bun for Clare.

Doug sourced the Cabernet grapes from some of his favorite California vineyards. Thanks to the stellar 2018 vintage – another in a string of superb Golden State harvests – Doug had his choice of perfectly ripened fruit. After kid-glove care from vineyard to cellar, this Cabernet overflows with the flavors of its namesake pastry: juicy black currant and warm baking spices.

With Currant Bun, you won’t need dessert. It’s indulgent enough to enjoy all on its own after dinner. Though, it’s equally delicious alongside firm, aged cheeses or hearty beef dishes.
