Welcome to Patagonia, Argentina’s extreme southern frontier. Here, icy-cold Antarctic winds produce uniquely tight clusters of tiny, thick-skinned grapes – and reds that are deep in color and big on flavor.
The Schroeder family have braved the elements down here since 1927, regularly winning medals and 90+ point scores for their Malbec. (International Wine Challenge judges called the previous release a “fabulous cooler climate Malbec!” and gave it a gold medal).
You’re in for more of the same with the rich, barrel-aged 2018 release – which has a 95-point rating and gold medal from IWC and this mouthwatering tasting note: “Inky purple colors with powerful damson and black cherry notes with coffee and mocha finish.”
In a region made up of small, quality-focused wineries, the Schroeders (clearly!) stand out for the distinctiveness and consistently first-rate quality of their handiwork. Taste for yourself with their signature, oak-aged Malbec – now in magnum size (that’s 1.5 liters – the equivalent of two bottles in one).
