Beyond the Label

It pays to have friends in high places—literally. Winemaker Giorgio Flessati has a pristine reputation for wines made in the Elqui Valley, high in the foothills of the Chilean Andes. But when a colleague in the Valle de Limarí was left with a cancelled order for his grapes, Giorgio immediately knew the potential and swooped in to buy them (and help out his friend). The result is a mountain-fresh Chardonnay that’s sure to delight any white wine fan.

“Aymura” is a local word for “harvest,” and is related to the old Limarí Valley tradition of growing grapes in very high and remote vineyards in the Andes. It comes from the ancient Quechua language, which is still used in northern Chile, southern Peru and northwestern parts of Bolivia.

For this special Chardonnay, all the grapes were hand-picked and hand-sorted, then cold fermented to preserve aromas and character. Look forward to generous fruit aromas, with a touch of ripe melon and tropical fruit. The palate is intense, persistent and concentrated, with vibrant, melon, green apple and mineral notes. It makes a great match for rich, creamy pastas and fresh seafood like crab and lobster.

Northern Chile’s Valle de Limarí is renowned for its limestone-rich soils, cooling coastal breezes and abundant sunlight, making it ideal for fresh, mineral-driven wines like this one. Order your share while our limited parcel lasts.
