Lodi also has some of the Golden State’s oldest Zinfandel vines – these gnarled heirlooms produce precious little fruit, but the grapes they do yield are super-concentrated. And thanks to the superb 2017 vintage, which provided near-perfect growing conditions, quality is excellent.
As the name implies, Berry & Spice delivers ripe, dark berry and rich red- and black-fruit compote flavors, along with hints of cinnamon and peppery spice. While it’s velvety enough to enjoy on its own, this luscious Zinfandel will really shine with saucy barbecued meats or hearty stews.
