Beyond the Label

Since 1926, four generations of the Hoclet family have made wine at their estate in Bordeaux’s Côtes-de-Bourg. All that expertise is deliciously evident in this highly rated red.

The Hoclet family’s Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vines are certified HVE3 (France’s highest environmental designation). For this cuvée, the family chose fruit grown on their oldest vines—which yield grapes with intensely concentrated flavors. Add in the excellent year—“2020 is a truly exceptional, highly unique and utterly spectacular vintage (The Drinks Business)—and it’s no wonder the quality is so high.

So high, in fact, that critic James Suckling rated the family’s Bordeaux 91-92 points and wrote: “This is very structured for the appellation with polished tannins and attractive length and intensity.” We’d add that it has beautifully ripe berry and delicate oak-spice notes.
