How’s this for a cool new find: a racy white Bordeaux – already relatively uncommon, as compared to the region’s ever-present reds! – made to a unique recipe of half Sauvignon Blanc and half (rare) Sauvignon Gris.
Hailing from the leading La Clarière estate in the heart of up-and-coming Saint-Emilion neighbor, Castillon, it’s a delicious product of the excellent 2019 harvest, which is being lauded by winemakers and critics alike for its stellar quality. Given that it scored three huge gold medals last vintage, we can’t wait to see the kind of acclaim it racks up now.
Bursting with sunny lemon character, it’s balanced by zippy, refreshing acidity and a rounded, spicy nuance. If you’re looking for something deliciously different, but also crowd-pleasing, you’ve found your bottle.
