Flavor Profile
Châteauneuf-du-Pape is the southern Rhône’s most prized red wine––and there’s no better taste for fans than Château Sixtine, the legendary Diffonty family’s powerful flagship release. A Grenache-heavy red, it’s decadent and complex with a gorgeously long finish.
The Diffonty family have been growing vines in the southern Rhône since 1673. Today, fourth-generation Jean-Marc Diffonty has gained a reputation for producing some of the finest Châteauneuf in the region. Robert Parker, one of the world’s leading wine critics, calls Jean-Marc an “innovative visionary”, while Decanter’s Rhône expert Matt Walls says the latest vintage is a “lush and velvety wine with some gently squeezing ripe tannins, good depth of fruit––black and red berries––and good length. It's quietly powerful.”
Crafted in extremely small quantities, Château Sixtine is a classic Châteauneuf blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. It’s already delicious now (especially with traditional pairings like roasted lamb or ratatouille), but don’t be afraid to stash a few bottles away for the coming years.
