Flavor Profile
If you appreciate the depth and finesse of mature Bordeaux, Château Vieira is well worth a taste. An 11-year-old Bordeaux Supérieur, it captivates with silky red fruits, unfolding across a long, complex finish.
The wine is crafted at a stunning 19th-century estate in the commune of Capian, originally founded by a Portuguese aristocrat as a heartfelt tribute to his muse. The vineyards span the coveted appellations of Premières Côtes de Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur.
Today, the estate is owned by the Dualé family, who work the vineyards using sustainable methods that align with HVE3 certification––the highest level of environmental accreditation in France. In a rare twist for the region, the family crafted the blend primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by lesser amounts of Merlot and a splash of Malbec.
According to Decanter, the 2014 Bordeaux vintage is “a classic,” producing wines with “balanced structures, crisp and crunchy fruit profiles” and “an aromatic complexity, elegance and refreshing acidity, with has aided, and will continue to aid aging.”
Château Vieira has matured beautifully, as you’ll taste from the first sip. Expect aromas of mellow red fruits, cedar and forest undergrowth, with a palate of silky red fruits, a fresh lift and a satisfyingly long finish.
After more than a decade of ageing, this complex Bordeaux is ready to shine––it’s the perfect partner to roasted lamb, rich game meats, or slow-cooked stews.
