Beyond the Label

Known as “The Wine of Kings, The King of Wines,” legendary Barolo is one of Italy’s (and the world’s) greatest reds. Prized for its haunting fragrance, complex flavors and ability to age for decades, it has graced the tables of royalty since the Middle Ages.

If you’ve yet to experience this famed red for yourself, the 2013 vintage is a fantastic place to start. Top critic and Italian wine expert Antonio Galloni calls it a vintage of “sublime finesse and elegance,” and The Wine Advocate rates it an “outstanding” 94 points.

And Bruno Cordero’s masterful release will be an impressive addition to your wine rack. His highly awarded Terre da Vino winery is in the heart of Barolo, and has a decades-long history of acclaim – including repeat Due Bicchieri or “Two Glasses,” kudos from Gambero Rosso, Italy’s famed wine and food guide.

Cordone will cellar well over through 2045. If you open it before then, it will be delicious too – though we highly recommend you decant about an hour before serving. This will awaken aromas of blackberry, rose petal and earthy spice, along with an elegant palate filled with juicy plum and black cherry. Enticing spice and classic truffle notes are supported by Barolo’s trademark firm tannins and a long, smooth finish.

Sip this with full-flavored pastas, savory red meats and more – or, for the best pairing of all, try it with any dish involving Piedmont’s famous truffles. We guarantee the match will be fantastic.

Very few cases. Hurry for your share.
