This limited-edition J Opi Reserve Malbec is an alluring, full-bodied take on Argentina's most-desired grape. Elegant and concentrated, it's a natural step up from winemaker Opi Sadler’s award-winning ‘regular’ Malbec.
It also proves why Sadler's peers call him the "Malbec Magician": He has a knack for making complex, layered wines immediately approachable, all at an unrivaled value.
To craft this bottling, he hand-harvested premium fruit from select old vines in his favorite high-elevation site in Mendoza's Maipu region. Then, he aged the juice an extra-long, 15 months in fine French and U.S. oak barrels. The result is deeply colored in glass and seriously impactful on the palate, offering dense black fruit flavors underpinned by subtle wood spice and vanilla.
"I have been making wine for over 20 years and it has become my greatest passion," says Sadler. "My colleagues might have nicknamed me ‘The Magician’ but the only magic is making the best of the natural advantages of our region."
