Luciani Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2015
Critics posit that 2015 could be Brunello di Montalcino’s best vintage ever. Here’s a highly collectible, acclaimed taste from a historic family estate mere yards from Biondi Santi. It’s every bit as rich and complex as its famous neighbor.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

Beyond the Label

“It is tempting to say that 2015 is Brunello di Montalcino’s best vintage ever,” writes expert James Suckling. And he’s not alone in this assessment. Vinous critic Ian D’Agata raves: “Simply put, 2015 is a great Brunello vintage, easily one of the top eight or ten Brunello vintages of all time…I simply do not recall ever tasting as many outstanding young Brunellos as I did this year.”

And we’re bringing you one of the real gems from historic 2015. Cantine Luciani’s fine Riserva continues its longstanding tradition of acclaim, arriving with 90 points from Wine Enthusiast: “Aromas of black-skinned berry, leather and Mediterranean scrub lead the way. The savory palate recalls blackberry jam, star anise and tobacco framed in smooth tannins.”

Cantine Luciani is located mere yards from ultra-premium Biondi Santi (whose 2015 Brunello Riserva fetches $199+ a bottle). The Luciani family have been crafting fine Brunello here since 1888—and they’re especially proud of their gorgeously complex 2015 Riserva.

Made with vigna vecchia (old-vine) Sangiovese Grosso (the region’s unique grape clone renowned for bringing a certain richness, intensity and complexity to wine) and aged 48 months in fine oak barrels, it’s a perfect example of everything critics love about this special year. And, like all fine-caliber Brunello Riservas, it’s very age-worthy, with a decade of pleasure (or more) ahead of it—though, of course, you can enjoy it right now.

Look for glints of garnet color in the glass, then prepare for Brunello’s trademark perfume of ethereal spices and hints of red berries. Smooth, complex flavors of clove, violet and intense dark fruits follow. This is begging to be sipped with a special dinner—we suggest pepper-crusted New York strips topped with aged Asiago cheese shavings.

We also suggest you hit ‘Add to Cart’ soon to avoid missing out on this fantastic taste of such a historic vintage.
