Mouthwatering Muscadet is an ideal aperitif or shellfish partner. This one hails from a prized parcel of old vines at Manoir des Herbauges, which the Choblet family has run for five generations. Aged ‘sur lie’ for extra complexity. Not to be missed.

Beyond the Label

Mouthwatering Muscadet is one of France’s classic whites, and makes a perfect aperitif or shellfish partner. This single-vineyard, old-vine find hails from fifth-generation winemaker Jérôme Choblet and the Cru region of Côtes de Grandlieu. Here, vines benefit from an exceptional microclimate. The warmth of the Atlantic hastens an early spring, and the Lac de Grandlieu preserves heat throughout the growing season, lending extra ripeness to the fruit. And thanks to the great 2020 vintage, now is the perfect time to start exploring all that this region has to offer wine fans!

Le Manoir des Herbauges is a great jumping off point—it’s been in the Choblet family since 1864 and is a regular medal winner (it’s won so many that we’ve lost count!). The family have long been committed to sustainable farming practices (the estate is certified Terra Vitis) and are also recognized as innovators. They were the first independent estate in the region to use computerized temperature control for fermentation and the first to use pneumatic presses (both now standard).

After a rigorous selection process (15% of the grapes were eliminated to preserve quality), Jérôme aged the wine sur lie for extra complexity, and it has a gentle spritz that preserves the wine’s natural freshness. Place your order today and be among the first to taste this exciting release.
