“Oregon is right now the single most exciting winemaking area in the United States,” writes The New York Times.
And that’s especially true for Pinot Noir fans. Oregon – the premium Willamette Valley in particular, produces fantastic Pinot Noir. The state’s rainy, unpredictable climate is similar to that of France’s famed Burgundy region, where you’ll find the world’s most expensive Pinot. But Oregon brings Pinot fans something Burgundy never can – amazing value.
And Pinot du Nord isn’t just any old Pinot. No, no. It was made at the highly respected Sokol Blosser family estate. Located in the sought-after Dundee Hills – next to famous names like Domaine Drouhin and Francis Ford Coppola’s Domaine de Broglie – they focus on sustainability from vineyard to glass (read more below). Crafted in celebration of their 50th anniversary, this gently oaked Pinot Noir brims with silky, red-fruit charm.
As every great, cooler-climate Pinot should, it overflows in the glass with perfumed floral notes, supported by hints of elegant, dark fruit. The palate is refined and silky, offering up ripe, dark cherry and currant flavors with a long, haunting finish. Just the thing for crispy-skinned salmon or a creamy mushroom risotto.
